June 18, 2001 - Present

Combustion Turbine Technician, Tennessee Valley Authority / Gallatin Combustion Turbines, 1471 Steam Plant Road Gallatin, TN 37066. Share responsibilities for all facets of site operations and maintenance. Gallatin CT site consists of four General Electric 7EA DLN-1 gas turbine generators, and four Westinghouse 501-B gas turbine generators totaling approximately 720 MW of combined output. Also share responsibilities for CEMS equipment operations, maintenance, and reporting. Site controls experience includes Westinghouse WDPF and Westation MMI, Cimplicity HMI’s, GE Historian, GE Mark V TMR turbine controls, EX-2000BR Regulators, and GE-Fanuc 90-70 and 90-30 BOP PLC’s. Passed TVA’s Switching and Tagging Process board exam with required score of 100% on first try.

Turbine Controls Requisition work.   Responsible for integration of Mk V SpeedTronic Turbine Controls hardware and software to customer specific needs for control of steam turbines typically utilized in the generation of electrical power. This work primarily consists of the generation and testing of control programs and related user interfaces including the Mark V <I> and Cimplicity HMI systems. Last assignment was the controls system for a 660 MW GE large steam unit destined for China, utilizing the Mark V TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) control system and Cimplicity HMI.

Feb. 17, 1997 - Dec. 1999

Excitation Systems Engineer, General Electric Industrial Systems, 1501 Roanoke Blvd. Salem, VA 24153. Excitation Engineering Requisition work. Responsibilities included solicitation and accumulation of static or rotating exciter specifications, specifications of generators and related controls, and application to the EX2000 digital controls product platform. The systems engineer also verified the integrity of automated controls software while making adjustments specific to a customer’s needs.  Tasked with assisting manufacturing during the building phase of the product, and assisting the field engineer’s installation and commissioning activities. Also performed the functions of an Engineering Technician, which included generation of discrete (non-harnessed) wire tables and ordering of the various parts and assemblies needed to build the product. During my three plus year tenure as a member of the excitation team I was responsible for engineering in excess of 170 excitation systems ranging from PWM brushless regulators (1 to 12 field amperes) to J-Frame Hot Backup exciters (upwards of 1300 field amperes) for US and global customers.
